One week left! - A small look back...


Thank you to everyone who came out the our last screening this past Friday night from Paris In Plantsville and Elmwood Productions!

As we head into our final week open we wanted to share some images of showcards from the past.

LAST SCREENING! THIS FRIDAY!


 
As you may have read, heard, seen, and lamented over: 
Paris In Plantsville is ending it’s amazing 6 year run in May!  
So Elmwood is coming back for one last screening just in time to wrap it up with them! 
Since our first screening there Labor Day weekend 2010 we’ve been a staple of the gallery, and sold out many of our screenings. 
And we’re bring ing back two of the biggest for one nite only!

So if you’ve been saying:
“Hey, I really need to get out to the gallery and see the art” or "Hey, I really need to get out to see one of those flicks” 
NOW IS THE TIME!
First up at 7:30 is “Josh and Todd” The Story of A Man and His Puppet” followed at 8:45 by the multi-award winning horror/comedy “HEAD - Horror The Elmwood Way”
And there will even be a few surprises too!
Following the films will be a Q & A session with members of both casts, and the film makers.

And starting at 6:00 PM we will be joined by The Hartford Flavor Company! They will be doing a tasting of some of their amazing Wild Moon, a line of unique, flavored liqueurs made of all natural ingredients. Check them out at http://hartfordflavor.com/

Also as the doors open at 6:00 make sure to say hi to S.W. Rand and Euphio Films! Euphio will be there doing a little showing off, and selling DVDs of their film "The Hollow Waltz"! More about Euphio Films at  http://www.euphiofilms.com/

This night will be a great chance for local film makers, puppet-heads, and artists of all types to meet up and network before and after the flicks!

The doors open at 6:00 PM, and the films start at 7:30. Admission is $5.00! Where else can you see two films for only five bucks!?
And it's BYOB! Let's have a party!
Both films are Rated R, so please leave the kids at home!


And look for some great new Elmwood events at some amazing spots later this year!

"This is the end..." - The Doors

FIN : The Final Send-Off to an Era of Art in Plantsville
APRIL 30th

That's correct, this will be the final exhibit at Paris In Plantsville. The exhibit will feature artists past and present who have made such a huge impact on the arts and culture community. There is no theme to show, other than getting a last glace at some of the areas most talented artists in the area.

March 12 - April 2, 2016

ABOUT THE JUROR
Paul Baylock, from New Britain, Connecticut graduated from Hartford Art School with Bachelors and Masters in Art Education. Paul taught art in New Britain at the middle and high school level for 38 years, retiring in 2012. Paul has been involved with the Art League of New Britain for the past seven years, presently serving as president. Paul has been involved in art making from an early age. He has sculpted, drawn and painted in all media and areas. His master’s show featured slipcast ceramics.  



Paul has continuously strived to be a better artist, training with Rachel Siporin, Dr. Michael Cipriano, Molly Bornstein, Jenny Knauss,and Zbigniew Grzyb. He has shown in many exhibits and has won his share of prizes and is included in many private collections. The work in this exhibit draws its inspiration from motifs and symbols of the industrial past of his hometown and his childhood exposure to ads and cartoons from Popular Science magazines

Drop Off Dates: Feb 27th & 28th 1 - 6 p.m.
Pick-up dates for unaccepted work: March 5th & 6th 1 - 5 p.m.
OPENING RECEPTION: Sat, March 12th 6 - 9 p.m.

-All 2d and 3d work may be entered but MUST have hanging wire
or proper display pedistol at time of drop-off.
-$20 for first entry, $5 for every entry after ( Max 5 entries )
- Not all work may be accepted. If artwork was not chosen
by juror, the artist must pick up work March 5/6th.
-All work at conclusion of show MUST be picked up April 2/3rd.

LOVE BIRDS - This week's Paint N' Taste


Now you and your friends can join local art enthusiasts & try your hand at creating a masterpiece at Paris in Plantsville & Gallery Cafe.

Nationally recognized artist Sean Michanczyk will walk you through an entire 16" x 20" acrylic painting over the course of 2-2 1/2 hours while we treat you to some of the finest wines & Hors d'oeuvres the area has to offer.

What you need to bring?
Nothing! everything will be provided for you, paint, brushes, apron, canvas and of course Wine & Hors d'oeuvres are included by Greens & Beans 

What will we work on?
By the end of the class, you will have completed your very own 16 x 20 masterpiece with the help of Sean Michanczyk & gallery staff. Themed paintings are different with each class but season appropriate.

What are the important times to remember?

The class you've purchased is for Thursday, Feb 11th Session begins at 7 p.m., so be sure to come in 15 min early and get settled in for some fun!

Opening Staurday January 16th is "Family Tree". Featuring a variety of styles and mediums of art from a talented group of artists that just happen to be related!
