6th Annual Juried Open Call: With Guest Juror Paul Baylock
March 12 - April 2, 2016

ABOUT THE JUROR
Paul Baylock, from New Britain, Connecticut graduated from Hartford Art School with Bachelors and Masters in Art Education. Paul taught art in New Britain at the middle and high school level for 38 years, retiring in 2012. Paul has been involved with the Art League of New Britain for the past seven years, presently serving as president. Paul has been involved in art making from an early age. He has sculpted, drawn and painted in all media and areas. His master’s show featured slipcast ceramics.  



Paul has continuously strived to be a better artist, training with Rachel Siporin, Dr. Michael Cipriano, Molly Bornstein, Jenny Knauss,and Zbigniew Grzyb. He has shown in many exhibits and has won his share of prizes and is included in many private collections. The work in this exhibit draws its inspiration from motifs and symbols of the industrial past of his hometown and his childhood exposure to ads and cartoons from Popular Science magazines

Open Call - Submission This Week!!!


6th Annual Juried Open Call: With Guest Juror Paul Baylock

Drop Off Dates: Feb 27th & 28th 1 - 6 p.m.
Pick-up dates for unaccepted work: March 5th & 6th 1 - 5 p.m.
OPENING RECEPTION: Sat, March 12th 6 - 9 p.m.

-All 2d and 3d work may be entered but MUST have hanging wire
or proper display pedistol at time of drop-off.
-$20 for first entry, $5 for every entry after ( Max 5 entries )
- Not all work may be accepted. If artwork was not chosen
by juror, the artist must pick up work March 5/6th.
-All work at conclusion of show MUST be picked up April 2/3rd.

About The Jurors:
Amy LaBossiere is an award-winning outsider artist,entrepreneur & strategic marketing consultant. Amy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Post/Long Island University, a Master of Arts in Conscious Evolution with 
The Graduate Institute, & a certificate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Tao LaBossiere is a multi-disciplined, award-winning artist,specializing in murals, illustration, public art & sculpture. He studied illustration at Hartford Art School. Tao created the first commercial
large-scale mural in Hartford at Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, & has murals at Saint Mary Home, Hartford Public Library, Pond House Café, Ginza Japanese Cuisine, & many more locations in the Greater Hartford Area. The LaBossiere’s own two benefit corporations, The Art of Tao LaBossiere, Inc., & Still Waters Retreat Center, Inc. They are also the volunteers responsible for running the Hartford ArtSpace Gallery. "OH THE HORROR!" - Opens This Saturday!

 "Oh The Horror! - Halloween Art Show"

"Oh The Horror!" is an open call to all artists of all mediums to exhibit art reflecting this ghoulish and scary season! Make sure to get your Halloween costume ready early and wear it to the opening! It's the Halloween Bash of 2013!

The opening starts at 6:00 PM on 10/12 and at 8 PM the fun really begins with a double feature of Halloween films!
Up first is everyones favorite vampire!
"STEVE THE VAMPIRE" from Elmwood Productions -
You keep asking for it, so we're bringing him back!
"The Complete Steve The Vampire" follows the adventures of Steve who was turned into a vampire as a teenager and although now in his mid-twenties, he just can't catch a break trying to prove himself in the vampire community. Between his overbearing mother, his indifferent girlfriend, and his unlikely friendship with Dracula, he still manages to keep his head on straight and do his best to avoid being staked by the local vampire slayer.
And all he wants to do is hang out, watch some Star Trek, and enjoy a good glass a blood...
And them following Steve at 9:00 PM....
LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN! - The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! 

Bring your toast, rice, and dress like your most loved character from the show! But, please, leave the squirt guns at home!

How It Works:
