"Fur and Feathers" Open Call Drop Off Starts Tomorrow


What better way to break into spring than Fur & Feathers!?

Paris In Plantsville wants to display your wildlife and landscape work for our next open call. Any and all mediums are acceptable, Painting,Photography, sculpture and as many submissions as you'd like.

Submissions are $10 per entry

Drop Of dates: April 17-19 during normal gallery hours

Opening Reception:Saturday May 3rd 6-9 p.m.
Closing Date: May 24th

You've heard of the exciting paint parties sweeping cities across the nation...now join the fun locally right in Plantsville! Now you and your friends can join local art enthusiasts & try your hand at creating a masterpiece at Paris in Plantsville & Gallery Cafe.

Nationally recognized artist Christine Ivers will walk you through an entire 16" x 20" acrylic painting over the course of 2-2 1/2 hours while executive chef & restaurateur Nick Holiday from Hearthstone Pub treats you to some of the finest wines, craft beer & Hors d'oeuvres the area has to offer. 

What you need to bring? 
Nothing! everything will be provided for you, paint, brushes, apron, canvas and of course Wine is included

What will we work on?
By the end of the class, you will have completed your very own 16 x 20 masterpiece with the help of Christine Ivers & gallery staff. Themed paintings are different with each class but season appropriate. 

What are the important times to remember?
The class you've purchased is for Thursday, April 10th. Session begins at 7 p.m., so be sure to come in early and get settled in for some fun!

ABOUT THE JUROR:
Jacquelyn Etling a CT based photographer and adjunct professor of art history at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield CT. Her work is shot through the lens of a world traveler and art historian. She presently works in the infrared photographic medium. This award winning photographers work has been seen in exhibitions throughout the United States. Some of the venues have included the Wade Wilson gallery in Houston TX, the new Britian Museum of American CT, the New York Hall of Science, the Edward Hopper House Nyack NY, UCONN Art Gallery, Stamford CT. She is currently represented by the Pleiades Gallery in Chelsea NY, where she is also Vice President. Jacquelyn is also a member of numerous arts organizations including the Salmagundi Club, National Association of Women Artists, Women Artists Association, Milford Arts Council, Milford CT, Rockport Art Association in MA, and the Cambridge Art Association, MA.

PIP would like to invite all artists to participate in our 4 Year Anniversary, Juried Open Call featuring guest juror Jackie Etling,

Submission fee is $20 per artwork, or 3 artworks for $50.

"OH THE HORROR!" - Opens This Saturday!

 "Oh The Horror! - Halloween Art Show"
 Presented by Elmwood Productions and Gallery of a Clown!


"Oh The Horror!" is an open call to all artists of all mediums to exhibit art reflecting this ghoulish and scary season! Make sure to get your Halloween costume ready early and wear it to the opening! It's the Halloween Bash of 2013!

The opening starts at 6:00 PM on 10/12 and at 8 PM the fun really begins with a double feature of Halloween films!
Up first is everyones favorite vampire!
"STEVE THE VAMPIRE" from Elmwood Productions -
You keep asking for it, so we're bringing him back!
"The Complete Steve The Vampire" follows the adventures of Steve who was turned into a vampire as a teenager and although now in his mid-twenties, he just can't catch a break trying to prove himself in the vampire community. Between his overbearing mother, his indifferent girlfriend, and his unlikely friendship with Dracula, he still manages to keep his head on straight and do his best to avoid being staked by the local vampire slayer.
And all he wants to do is hang out, watch some Star Trek, and enjoy a good glass a blood...
And them following Steve at 9:00 PM....
LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN! - The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! 

Bring your toast, rice, and dress like your most loved character from the show! But, please, leave the squirt guns at home!

The show will run for the rest of October, so f you miss the opening you'll still get to see the art... But really, if you miss the opening we'll send monsters to hide under you bed and torment you all month! So be there!

We hope you join us for this special event! 



Join us for a special show dedicated in honor of a special friend, Family Member, Artist and all around Rock Star that was Jordan Deschene. We have gathered a collection of artists in the Connecticut area for the first of many shows to honor the work, and also display works inspired by him. On display will be Jordan's large portfolio of work as well as several works by professional artist lucky enough to have known him.

Jordan Deshcene ( Aug 16, 1981 - Aug 9, 2012 ) was a graduate of Lyman Memorial High School. A talented and passionate artist influenced by, among others, Shel Silverstein, Crayola and Dr. Seuss, earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration and Ceramics from the University of Hartford, graduating Cum Laude. Jordan served a residency with the Art League of Farmington and was Artist in Residence at the Farmington Valley Art Center during the summer of 2011. Jordan's art work has been featured at numerous art shows in CT and he also shared his knowledge and talent for teaching at Manchester High School for one year. He was general manager, Instructor and resident artist at the Paris in Plantsville Gallery in Plantsville, CT. Jordan was dedicated to community service and served one year with City Year/ Boston/Americorps. He was also an avid reader and history buff, with a great art for conversation and good natured debate on any number of subjects as his many beloved friends and family will attest. He had a a great love of learning as well as a love of the outdoors. He was happiest, when not painting, to hike and kayak and truly enjoyed his work at Eastern Mountain Sports where he was able to share his passion with others.

Please Join us May 11, 2013 7- 10 p.m. for an opening reception of a celebration of Jordan's amazing body of work and the great memories so many of us will never forget!
