Eric Stegmaier was born in 1980 in New Britain, CT. Upon graduating with a BFA in illustration from the Hartford Art School in 2002, Eric worked as an archaeological illustrator for several excavations in the Middle East. His academic interests in religion led him to pursue a master's degree in religious studies from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT in 2007 while continuing his archaeological endeavors. His work has been published in several books and articles, and his working relationships include the Yale University Art Gallery, Yale’s Department of Egyptology, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Hartford, and the University of Tennessee.

Eric’s paintings are inspired by his love of history, literature, and nature. In addition to his career as the Senior Conservation Assistant at the Yale Center for British Art, Eric is currently writing and illustrating a children’s book and is a former member of the Salmagundi Club NYC.
